From South Africa’s irrepressible spinner of the gay farce is another sparkling gem. Robert Whitehead is charismatic Sheila, tele-evangelist with a difference – her brand of face cream sets you, as a Friend of Jesus, on the path to beauty in His image. Her wife, Shirley, pockets the takings and keeps Sheila titillated with her own brand of loving. When disowned son Sebastian turns up to demand some dosh (in order to become Tara), Sheila’s dysfunctional past and present collide. Director Stanimir Stoykov is a guest of the festival.
